Our hospitals include low secure services and a specialist inpatient hospital for adults who have a learning disability or who may be autistic with additional needs that requires an inpatient stay under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).<\/p>

Our specialist inpatient hospital provides bespoke accommodation that differs from a traditional hospital ward environment, which can often be unsuitable for individuals who have a learning disability or who are autistic. Instead, the space is subdivided to offer a range of services, including small shared apartments and individual single occupancy apartments, depending on the needs of the individual.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Within this service the use of increased relational security enables the individuals we support to have greater freedom and choice in this setting. This is achieved through our care packages, which are individualised through the initial and ongoing assessment processes, in consultation with the commissioners, the people we support and those that are important to them such as families\/carers and other external professionals.

This informs us how many staff are needed for each individual, ensuring a safe and supportive package of care that offers maximum flexibility. It enables individuals to engage in activities of their choice, including going out into the community, and ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A core staff team<\/strong> in every area ensures staff are available to support if required. Patients in the hospital have access to an internal Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of professionals including nursing and care staff, psychiatry, psychology, positive behaviour support, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, sensory integration and dietetic input. This enables ongoing assessment and interventions wherever necessary. There are also links with other relevant professionals externally as per individual need.<\/p>
