Professional Experience

I have worked for over 15 years in mental health and substance misuse across residential rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, and day clinics. I am experienced in offering group and one-to-one therapy.

I use different approaches depending on what the client wants and what they feel will work for them. I am experienced in 12-step work, Bio-Psycho-Social approach, CBT techniques and psychoeducational around addiction and mental health. I have worked with individuals and their families and often find it is useful to at least have one or two sessions with the client and their next of kin (where agreed)

Areas of Interest

Mental health, substance misuse, addictions, abstinence and harm minimisation. Anxiety, depression, health anxiety, addiction, and relationships.

Specialist Interest

Particularly interested in alcohol/drug misuse and abuse. Working towards an abstinence goal or harm minimisation using controlled usage techniques.

FdSc – Person Centred Counselling – qualified 2008

Personal Interests and family

I have three grown up children who are now enjoying their own independent lives – I have learnt a lot from them. I enjoy walking and being able to see the beauty of Sussex and use nature as a means of relaxing and self-healing. Photography, meditation and an interest in spirituality.
