“We put children and young people at the heart of all that we do”
Potters Bar Clinic School
Helping each student
find their own voice,
develop their own talents
and become a confident
individual…
Potters Bar Clinic School is an integral part of the care and treatment programme facilitated within the hospital for young people with social, emotional and mental health issues.
All young people admitted to the hospital attend this on site provision. Young people attending our service will continue to study subjects chosen at their home school or college where possible.
Potters Bar Clinic School Vision and Approach
At Potters Bar Clinic School, our mission is to foster a healthy mindset, hope, resilience, and high aspirations in our students. We strive to facilitate their re-integration, re-connection, and re-engagement with learning, paving the way for success in their subsequent educational or employment endeavours.
Advocacy and Support: We are dedicated advocates for our pupils, providing tailored support and guidance. Our collaboration with external support agencies, schools, and colleges ensures a seamless transition for our students into their next educational phase.
Aspirational Teaching: Our teaching practices are designed to inspire and challenge students. We plan lessons that not only expand their knowledge and skills but also promote independence, fostering confident and creative learners.
Collaborative Curriculum Development: Working closely with the hospital’s multi-disciplinary team (MDT), students’ home schools, local authorities, and parents, we continuously refine our curriculum to meet the evolving needs of our students. Our approach includes:
- Offering a flexible curriculum.
- Delivering excellent teaching and support.
- Building students’ confidence.
- Enhancing their learning experiences.
- Empowering students to apply their knowledge towards their future goals.
By maintaining this collaborative and student-centred approach, we ensure that our pupils are well-prepared for their future educational and career aspirations.
