Elysium Neurological’s Professor Nick Alderman wins Lifetime Contribution Award!

We’re thrilled to announce that Professor Nick Alderman, one of the UK’s leading experts in Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation, has won The Neuro Rehab Times Lifetime Contribution Award.

Professor Alderman, Senior Clinical Director, Elysium Neurological Services, took home the prize for his unparalleled vision and dedication to the field of NbR over an outstanding 40-year career.

Nick said he was delighted to be the recipient of the prestigious accolade at the inaugural NR Times Awards.

He said: “I have been on a long journey in my chosen field, neurobehavioural rehabilitation, on which I embarked in 1982, and I sincerely hope the journey will continue for some time yet.

“Throughout that time, I have been both fortunate and blessed to work with excellent colleagues. My view is that whilst individuals are recipients of awards, those numerous innovations and outputs made over the course of a career are very rarely attributable to that one person, but represent the contributions made by teams the lucky person has been a member of, during this time.

“In this sense, in recognition of my good fortune in working with excellent colleagues, both in the past and currently, I feel this award is also for them. It’s also a testament to the patience and support given by my wife and children over many years.

“I must acknowledge Elysium Healthcare for the support they give me and the Neurological Services in enabling us to thrive and develop. Truly, I can think of no better employer.

“Finally, in accepting this wonderful award, I sincerely hope that the efforts made by myself and colleagues over the years it recognises, have been of benefit to service users and their families, which after all, is what it’s all about.”

This year has also seen Professor Alderman neurological winner achieve more impressive milestones, including the publication of a new book this month, Managing Challenging Behaviour Following Acquired Brain Injury, and the success of the Avalon Centre in Wiltshire with positive patient outcomes and statistical evidence.

The NR Times Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding practice, innovation and dedication from those working across the field of neuro rehab in changing the lives of patients, both now and into the future.
