The results of an extensive refurbishment programme which will benefit patients, staff and visitors at Thornford Park have been unveiled.
The programme of enhancements at the hospital has seen the size of the hospital’s reception more than double, making it a more comfortable and welcoming environment for patients, their families and carers and visitors to the hospital.

The new two-floor reception space which has been created during the six month build not only includes a more extensive and comfortable waiting area, it also includes additional administrative space and a large board room which will allow for more meetings and training events. The revamp also includes the creation of a dedicated space for Mental Health Act tribunal meetings.
Invited guests including Deputy Mayor Councillor Mark Lillycrop gathered for a special event and ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new reception. Cllr Lillycrop was joined by Elysium Chief Executive Joy Chamberlain and other special guests.
Hospital Director Jo Sherman said: “It was a pleasure to welcome our guests to share this special event to mark the opening of our newly refurbished and much enhanced reception area.
“As well as giving us much more space, the project has allowed us to create a really welcoming and inviting space and vastly improve the experience of patients and the many visitors we receive every day.
“As the hospital has grown, so we have welcomed more and more visitors and having a warm and welcoming space where people can be comfortable is so important.”
