Overview 

Reene House is a 16-bed residential service for adults of all genders with a functional mental health diagnosis. The service is for those who no longer require an inpatient mental health service but those who need more care and input than can be provided in supported accommodation.  

At Reene House, our devoted staff go above and beyond, offering unwavering support to individuals needing extra assistance in their daily routines, from the fundamental tasks of washing, dressing, to the meticulous management of medications. Our community-based care home with nursing is generously equipped, striving not only to meet but to surpass exceptional standards of service and personal care. Here, amidst a warm, inviting atmosphere, we create more than just a place to reside; we craft a home, a haven where genuine care and a friendly embrace define our commitment to fostering a comfortable and homely environment for all who walk through our doors.  

 

The Model 

The service provides a setting which supports individuals to lead a full and valued life. Staff support people to achieve as much independence as they can. There is the maximum possible choice of activities of daily living and the team embrace diversity and each person’s own unique potential. The service provides a safe environment with dedicated nursing and support staff who work to maintain each person’s citizenship and cultural beliefs. All meals are provided, and special dietary requirements are catered for.

At Reene House, the possibilities for enriching your physical, mental, and personal well-being are endless; from invigorating exercise and soothing relaxation to engaging hobbies, stimulating brain training, and thrilling outdoor pursuits, there’s something for everyone. Our vibrant community offers a wide array of group activities, self-care opportunities, and daily tasks to keep you energised and inspired. On top of that, we organise unforgettable educational outings, rejuvenating getaways, and exhilarating adventure trips. With our monthly life performance events, your journey at Reene House will be nothing short of extraordinary. 

 

The Environment 

The service has 16 spacious en-suite rooms, six on the ground floor and ten upstairs. Each bedroom room has its own sitting room. The residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own belongings. The residents also have access to a communal lounge, dining room, conservatory, and garden. Reene House is easily accessible and has been fitted with a passenger lift. 

 

Location 

The service is situated in a central location in the cathedral city of Newport. Black Ash Park is close by, as well as several different local shops and places of worship. Reene House is just a short drive away from Friars Walk Shopping Centre with shops and restaurants for people to explore. 

 

Admission Criteria 

Men and women aged 18 years and over 

Diagnosed with a mental illness, Huntingdon’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 

Co-morbid presentations such as neurological or long-term physical health conditions 

Dual diagnosis including a mild learning disability 

Informal or Community Treatment Orders (CTOs) or conditional discharges
