Heidi McCarthy

Care Centre Director

Heidi joined Stanley House as a care assistant in 2007 working part time, whilst doing her Nurse training at Worcester University. Once qualified in February 2010 Heidi joined Stanley House as a full time Staff nurse. In 2013 she became one of the lead nurses. In October 2017 Heidi was promoted to the role of Deputy Manager then in October 2021 Heidi was promoted again to Care Centre Director, which she is embracing. As Director, Heidi has a cast clinical expertise especially around Huntington’s and helps to lead the team to meet the individual needs of our residents whilst supporting them, their family and friends throughout their journey with us at Stanley House and Bowley Court.

Clare Prince

Deputy Care Centre Director

Clare qualified as a registered adult nurse at Worcester University in 2014. Clare’s nursing experience has been in community hospital, acute hospital and community nursing. Moving to Stanley House in 2019 and becoming Deputy Care Centre Director in 2021.

Emma El-Shazly

Assistant Psychologist

Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Forensic Psychology (2:1) from the University of Worcester in July 2023. Following that, she pursued a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology Studies and Mental Health at Coventry University, which she completed in September 2024. Emma has 15 years of experience in various care settings, including working with individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. This experience has fostered a strong interest in neurodegenerative conditions and the associated mental health complications. She began working as an Assistant Psychologist in December 2023. In her role she collaborates with the staff team to develop person-centred behaviour support plans for residents who exhibit challenging behaviours, and I provide training in Behavioural Support. Emma has also implemented a new method for collecting behavioural observations. She is passionate about working with both residents and staff to enhance meaningful engagement and create a therapeutic environment. Additionally, as a Wellbeing Champion, Emma strives to ensure that staff are working in a positive and supportive environment to increase the positive social climate, especially during challenging circumstances.

Benjamin Baah

Ward Manager

Ben started his career as a Mental Health Nurse after completing BSc Honours and graduating top of his class in the University of Cape Coast in 2019. Ben previously worked in a district hospital in Ghana where he managed a mental health unit, his main functions were managing acute mental illness, chronic mental illnesses and working in the community during his time there. In 2022, Ben joined Stanley House and progressed swiftly to a Ward Manager in 2024 while building clinical experience in the field of Huntington's Disease. Ben is looking forward to creating a good work atmosphere, improving quality to ensure the safest and best service is delivered to residents across both Bowley Court and Stanley House through audits and to empower staff and residents, whiles aiming to achieve the best.

Asante Owusu

Ward Manager

Asante Owusu is the Ward Manager at Stanley House. He qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse several years ago and has since gained extensive experience across various nursing sectors working with diverse people from different nursing background. Previously, he worked at Pantang Hospital in Ghana, providing care and rehabilitation therapies for patients with diverse mental health conditions. In June 2022, he relocated to the UK for career development and successfully passed his OSCE in August of the same year. Asante has completed a "Train the Trainer" course in Autism and Learning Disabilities and currently deliver staff training in these areas. Additionally, he holds a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training. Currently, Asante serves as the Palliative Link Nurse at Stanley House supporting staff with the management of residents during palliative care and ensuring care plans are updated. In his role as Ward Manager, Asante is dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and overseeing the daily operations of the ward to ensure the best possible outcomes for our residents.
