The Avalon Centre becomes Headway Approved Provider

The Avalon Centre team is celebrating after being accredited as an Approved Provider by the leading brain injury association, Headway.

Headway’s AP Scheme recognises organisations who are committed to advancing care for advanced brain injuries through innovation and quality.

Achieving accreditation from Headway required The Avalon Centre to demonstrate excellence in care standards, a commitment to continued service improvement, and dedication to their workforce’s continuous training and skills development.

Headway undertakes a robust system of on-site assessment and conversations with staff, service users and family members as part of the accreditation process.

Andy Birkett, Hospital Director at The Avalon Centre said he was delighted to have achieved the highly regarded accreditation.

Andy said: “The standards that Headway demand are high and innovation is a core part of the scheme. They recognise providers that achieve excellence in care while remaining at the forefront of ABI research and treatment advancements.
“I’m very proud of The Avalon team for achieving this accreditation and we are excited to collaborate with the Headway community and drive innovation and clinical excellence at our service.”

Headway’s mission to empower brain injury survivors and their families is aligned with the approach taken by The Avalon Centre.

The specialist neurological service has a transdisciplinary team dedicated to delivering outcome-based clinical programmes.

Andy said: “We applied for Headway’s AP Scheme because we want people looking for specialist ABI treatment to know the high standard of care we offer.

“By submitting to an external assessment of our service by experts in the field, prospective patients and their loved ones can be assured that our team are skilled, deeply knowledgeable and committed to continuous improvement.

“To have their seal of approval is a sign of quality that families can take into account as part of their decision-making process when considering us as their provider.”
