The Limes, Mansfield has been rated ‘Good’ in all five domains by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in a recent report, published in July 2022.

The Limes is a specialist rehabilitation service for men with a mental illness and/or personality disorder and focuses its interventions on individualised recovery using a unique compassion focussed model.

The CQC report highlighted:

  • Staff felt valued and empowered
  • There were comprehensive, holistic, and person-centred care plans in place
  • There was strong leadership
  • Patients interviewed gave many positive compliments about the Registered Manager and Service Doctor
  • Staff planned and managed discharge well, liaising well with services that would provide aftercare
  • The ward teams include/have access to the full range of specialists required to meet the needs of patients on the wards
  • Staff encouraged patients to develop and maintain relationships both in the service and the wider community
  • The service worked to a recognised model of mental health rehabilitation which combined positive behavioural support with Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), alongside the Safewards Model.

One patient interviewed said:

This is the best hospital I have been to. Staff are friendly and lovely. We go to the supermarket and staff help me to budget, I save my money. I do a few jobs around the hospital which I am paid for. You have to be interviewed for a job first. I have my key to my bedroom. I am doing good here and see the doctor face to face.”

Reflecting on the newly published report Louise Hamilton, Registered Manager felt “immensely proud of the dedication and commitment of all the staff at The Limes. During the past nine months, since I’ve been in post, they have worked hard with the people we support to drive the service forward.”
