Tottle Brook House CQC Outstanding

Tottle Brook House, part of Elysium Healthcare, was awarded the Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its first inspection which took place in November last year.

The five-bedroom service in Nottingham, which supports autistic people and people with a learning disability, received high praise for its caring and responsive approach. Inspectors found that the service delivers care that promotes independence, dignity, and individual choice, ensuring people are supported to lead meaningful, self‑directed lives.

In their report, inspectors highlighted the service’s strong ethos, compassionate practice and personalised support planning, noting the exceptional outcomes achieved for the people living at Tottle Brook House. They praised staff for treating people with kindness and genuine interest, and for creating support plans that celebrate individual abilities, goals and achievements.

The inspection report also emphasised the proactive, preventative approach taken by staff, who demonstrated deep understanding of individuals’ communication needs, anxieties and personal histories. Inspectors observed staff supporting people at their own pace, helping them build independence and confidence in day‑to‑day activities such as shopping, accessing the community and cooking.

Inspectors also commended the service’s strong leadership and innovative approach, noting a clear commitment to continuous improvement, collaborative working with external partners, and maintaining a safe, well‑equipped, sensory‑appropriate environment for residents.

Florence Ojo, Manager of Tottle Brook House, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive an Outstanding rating on our very first inspection. It means so much to the whole team—and to the people we support. Every day, we work to create a place where people feel valued, respected and empowered to live the lives they choose.

“I’m incredibly proud of our staff for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to always going the extra mile. This rating reflects their hard work, and we couldn’t be happier.”
