Castleholme Lodge
A care home with nursing for men and women with mental health problems.

More information about Castleholme Lodge
Castleholme Lodge is a 20-bed care home with nursing for men and women over the age of 18, who have a primary mental health diagnosis. The service has been designed to meet the needs of people with complex presentations, and severe and enduring mental health needs. Many people who come to Castleholme Lodge will most likely have spent most of their lives within inpatient services.
The service has a full Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) consisting of Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Psychologist, Psychology Assistant, Healthcare Assistants, and support services staff.
All the bedrooms are en-suite and spacious, creating both a living and sleeping space for residents to enjoy. We have created a homely feel at Castleholme Lodge, with a range of communal rooms, a fully equipped residents kitchen and large gardens. Castleholme Lodge is a community facing service where residents are supported to access local amenities.
All residents are registered with local primary care services for ease of access to a GP for health reviews and ongoing physical health treatment.
Service aims:
The aim of Castleholme Lodge is to equip people with the skills needed for community living, supportive relationships, and maximise independence. Supported by the MDT people are encouraged to build on the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills they already have and develop new ones.
There is a strong emphasis on generating a sense of belonging through active community involvement and building meaningful social networks. In addition to the activities which are held at the service, with graded support and exposure people can build and develop skills in the community.
Aims:
- Maintaining stability of symptoms and management of presenting risks through co-produced support planning with healthcare professionals and families as appropriate
- Promotion of social inclusion and improving independence
- Maximising quality of life
People who have a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness often have periods of fluctuation. The experience of the MDT allows the team to manage these when they happen, and wherever possible, reduce the need for an acute admission.
Admission criteria
- All genders aged 18 +
- Have a primary mental health diagnosis with enduring and complex mental health needs
