The specialist service provides assessment, treatment and complex care for people who, due to their acquired brain injury (ABI) or progressive neurological condition (PNC), may present with complex physical health care needs and/or mental health problems. Some people may also have a history of substance misuse.

The specialist clinical team offers psychiatric and psychological care to people who have complex behaviours such as verbal or physical aggression, agitation or disinhibition.

Registered as an independent hospital, St Neots can accept people detained under a section of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007), those with Deprivation of Liberty or able to stay informally. With 38 beds across four wards on two floors and access to outdoor gardens, we provide care to people with: 

• Acquired or Traumatic Brain Injury (ABI/TBI) 
• Progressive Neurological Conditions (PNC) 
• Frontotemporal 
• Complex Dementias  
• Functional Disorders 
• Complex Physical Conditions. 

The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) led by the Hospital Director is made up of Specialist Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Social Worker and both Healthcare and Therapy Assistant  

Using recognised outcome-based programmes, the specialist clinical team aim to provide every individual with the opportunity to maximise potential and reduce the impact the neurological condition has on their lives and those around them.   

The service is centrally located with good transport links from Cambridge and London.
